This photo story is based on true events*

007 was surfing on the computer again, when suddenly a face from his past popped up on screen ....

It was Vera, over at Stash Basket HQ, and she had a very important message for him ....

Obviously I have no photographic evidence that Vera was behind this message, but my intelligence sources advise me that this picture depicts the scene in real time .....

Unfortunately, little monkees aren't allowed online after 9 pm in this house, so he looked to me for help.

But sadly for 007, Simon and I were on the sofa sharing a bottle of fizzy apple juice and singing rugby songs ....

(I don't actually know any rugby songs ....)

So I was no good to man nor beast.

007 conveyed this bad news to Vera, who then kindly offered her services as his personal recruitment consultant.

The next day, when 007 was checking his mail, he received this message from Vera .....

Mission accomplished.  New recruit ..... recruited.  Watch your letter-box.  Over and out.  V

So 007 did watch the letter box.  Intently.

(Ok so his attention waned a little towards the end of the week)

By Tuesday, Greg had started wondering where 007 had gone, and what he was doing ....

This is Greg, wondering what 007 is doing ....

007 said "Nothing" but Greg didn't believe him ....

(that's Greg's disbelieving look)

So he asked again on Wednesday .....

Unfortunately, it transpired that Wednesday was also the day when a new Yellow Pages was delivered ....

This is Greg thinking "Youch. That's gotta hurt" .....

But don't worry, 007 was merely shaken ....

.... and possibly a little bit stirred ....

Later on I tried to tell him that the postman doesn't deliver at night, but he wouldn't believe me ....

But eventually his patience paid off and there was a knock at the door ....

007's parcel had arrived!

He ripped into it immediately .....

.... with Greg creeping ever closer ....

.... for a better look ....

..... and then 007 was off with his package ....

.... down the hall, into the kitchen ....

.... and back into his favourite corner ....

Greg was worried that he'd been forgotten ....

(this is Greg .... oh, you know the score!)

.... until 007 summoned him up there too ....

.... for the big reveal.

Can you guess what it is yet?

How about a clue .....

Or two ....

Yep - that's right!  It's a Little Cotton Monkey!!!

(he's called Marty)

.... of my very own!!

.... ahem .... I mean 007's very own!!

So, a new monkey recruit joins the gang, and I'm sure they'll be one big happy family ....

.... or WILL THEY???

Arrrgggghhhhhh!!!

No matter what I do ....

.... I just can't make ....

.... this face ....

.... look menacing ....

.... he's just too damned CUTE!!  So I guess they really will be one big happy family then ....

If you're anything like me (nosey) and study other people's photographs intently, I'd just like to say this ....

.... that's a protective covering we like to keep on all our furniture.  'k?

The following artistic licenses** were used in this story :-

Vera didn't bag a Little Cotton Monkey for me .... Michaela and her oh-so-speedy finger did.  (Thanks Michaela x)

Julie didn't take ages to send Marty, he arrived in record speed (Thanks Julie x)

I wasn't drinking wine on the sofa.

** one of those artistic licenses is a lie ....
